Conception Bay to San Sebastian
Thursday May 1st, 2008
Nice calm night at our anchorage in Conception Bay, Sails up at 8:42 am. As we headed out of the mouth of Conception Bay the wind picked up to about 21 knots apparent, and the seas were roughly 2-3 foot swells. Boat moving along nicely under main and jib averaging a speed of about 7.8 knots. Around Punta Santa Rosa the wind slowed down and we went back to some motor sailing.
Around this same time three whales passed by close to our starboard side and shortly after passing us the smallest one began breaching. He continued to jump until well out of our site. We pulled into San Sebastian, (which is a tiny bay that can only hold a boat or two and has about 8 houses lining it’s shore) around 4:30 pm, Dropped anchor and played some cards. Later that evening we had another boat join us, and anchored a little to close for comfort, but in the small anchorage it was all he could do. Dinner, some cards and bed. new Updates are posted click here Contact us at emailsailors07@gatolocosailing.com Read more about Gato Loco cruises www.GatoLocoSailing.com |
