Loreto Fest & Final days for Leg 1
Thursday, May 2nd
Windy day blows us to Puerto Escondido sail only, A perfect way to finish our 11 day sail from Penasco.
Another leg completed successfully.
Singlar marinas seem to be in trouble. No gas on the dock here in Escondido either. Filled with water we headed to the restaurant to meet friends. Craig & Linda our dock mates in Penasco were the first friends we see. Soon we find that friends MoonDrifter and Dream Catcher are in the new marina back in the canals behind the Singlar waterfront. Nice new marina just coming online. No power yet but docks are beautiful. Their asking $1 per/ft BUT we soon found out the our width they want $2/ft and we finally negotiate a price of $1.50. Our first night in port we treat the crew to dinner at the Trupi restaurant. Scallops and Veracruz fish were excellent.
Friday, May 3rd
Jeffrey & Lynnie make it to the excellent crew level fully washing down Gato Loco while Craig and I escape and visit the Loreto Fest swap meet. Thanks for that.
Clean boat and I scored a gift for Frankie. A good morning start to Loreto Fest.
Helen found a perfectly fitting wetsuit.
I attended a CPR update class taught by the local Loreto paramedics.
Later in the evening the crew enjoys happy hour on DreamCatcher.
There’s always good meals and fun times at Pedro’s Porta Bello restaurant on the Singlar dock.
Saturday, May 4th
Hard to believe that leg 1 has come to a end as Craig, Lynnie and Jeffery leave the boat Saturday morning. Craig is flying to LA today. Lynnie and Jeffrey head to Loreto to enjoy an evening and dinner at the historic old restaurant on the east side of the Mission (forgot the name). They made reservations while we visited Loreto on Wednesday during our visit. Left they toast to an excellent cruise. during their dinner. 🙂
It’s been an excellent leg with a great crew. Thank you for a very memorable voyage. AND Craig’s fun music…
Until the next Update…
The photos are great! It brings back so many pleasant memories. We miss Baja and sailing with friends. On a positive note, we have our new main sail and the screecher is due next week. Then the next project is to pull the boat and get hull extensions and re-power. Plan to be at Loreto Fest 2015. Until then we will keep working and watching the updates from Gato Loco. Have a great time and say hi to all our Seawind friends in Baja.

We have had a great time following your trip! What a great way to keep up with our friends on their adventure. I know you will surely miss having Jeffery and Lynnie in the galley! Thanks for the opportunity to share the experience on-line! Happy sailing 🙂
Aw! Almost a sad farewell for an amazing crew! But I know the feeling! Always sad that such an amazing adventure ends.. But…Lucky Gato Loco! On to new crew, and new adventures! Can’t wait to see the fun that will follow! Enjoys!
A great big THANK YOU to Lowell for his patience and skill as Captain, and his company throughout the trip. This was a dream since I first traveled in Baja over 10 years ago. Thanks also to Lynnie and Jeffery for their company and cooking….I didn’t lose an ounce in two weeks.
Well, “unfortunately”, Lynnie and I are safely back on dry land catching up on eamils – your email alerts are bringing tears to our eyes! Lynnie keeps using Captian Lowell’s short phrases, Craig is trying to find me a BBQ just like the one on the Gato Loco to use as a security blanket and my desk keeps moving for some unknown reason? Everyboby says it will stop moving in a couple of days – I hope not! Thanks again:???:
