While this report is pretty much “more of the usual” rather than cool photos of the unusual, it is from day 1 (Sunday), getting to Loreto, provisioning, getting on the boat and motoring (light winds directly on our nose) the short hop from Loreto to Isla Coronado where it was later afternoon by the time we anchored for an afternoon excursion, and a chance to start our “Big Fun” in the Sea of Cortez.

With all five of us precariously positioned on the dinghy, we made it – with amazing little water taken on board – we made it to the nice sandy beach for some sun and snorkeling. Sure missed not having the underwater camera, as we saw some amazing fish, eel, and a 2-foot snake looking “thing” (obviously species unknown to this writer… hey, I am a rookie here!), and lots of schools of various fish. We also unfortunately did not have a camera handy when Dave decided to grab a needle fish by hand out of a large group of them hanging behind the boat under the late night marker light on the boat. Possible pictures mext blog, 2 days from now, as we’ll be out of wirelss range heading to V Cove and beyond.

For now, we’re out, in good shape. Light winds, warm weather, calm seas (oops, that means motoring instead of sailing, the reason we are here!). Oh well.
For now, we’re under the watchful eye of Frankie’s yet to be named (as I understand it) mascot. We’ll work on that Frankie!!
It’s time to upload this so we can make our way to V Cove… thanks for checking in on the Gato Loco. More in two days. Hello and best wishes to all from Gato Loco Leg #6 “Rookies & Owners” Bill, Dave and Ellen Redden, Linda and Larry, your Rookie writer/blogger/sailor here.
Oh, yeah… “Top O’ The Mornin” Brian!

Glad to know you all got on board safe and sound…we were bummed we missed you in Loreto! Would have been great to have legs 5 & 6 hook up. Obviously Bill has passed the Communications Director duties off on two more unsuspecting victims, I mean, people…good luck! Nice pics…keep em coming! And, by the way, we DID name the tiki head! His name is “Wilsono”…you know, the Mexican version of “Wilson” from the movie Castaway!?! Trust me, we prayed to him for calm seas and bountiful fish…and, well, it worked! You guys need to try it out…who knows what Wilsono will bring…tee, hee, hee! 🙂 Can’t wait to hear what all the newbies think of the trip…keep on blogging!!!
p.s.-Just watch out for the “gillie-fish” in Vee Cove and San Juanico…nasty little buggers! 👿
Arrgh, and a “Top O’ The Mornin” back atcha!! Sounds like business as usual on the good ship Gato Loco. We wish we could be there to join you. Watch out for Bill when he gets to Muuuuuulege!!
