Bahia San Sebastian, heading back to Mulege, May 10th (Thur)
Cruisin North to Kino
Spinnaker socked as we arrived at the Sebastian entrance yesterday. One other boat (home port Toronto) setting tucked in behind the south reef. Plenty of room for Gato Loco close-in near the neighborhood wireless antenna. Everybody busy catching up on emails and news before Excellent night with cool breeze coming out of the canyon as usual. (9:00) Anchor up and joining the numerous boats heading north today. No wind and flat seas allow the undermanned boats to move to their next anchorage. We hear our Lake Pleasant friends calling the San Carlos marina so they’ve made safe passage across the sea. Motored close to shore to checkout NE exposed anchorages as we near Punta Conception. Do you believe it.. We caught a fish, it’s fish tacos for lunch and winds finally up as we reach the north end of Punta Conception. All boat traffic turns left into Conception Bay as we sail due west to Mulege. Robin’s Nest (right) in front of us after hailing us about a “long line fishing line” First hand of hearts played and I can tell this card game will become an obsession over the next days.. No time wasted, as we anchor in the Mulege, to dinghy to Hotel Serenidad to the swim up bar for a cool drink. Rick met the Canadian couple flying Rick worked hard at irritating the taxi driver as we ride into Mulege. Interestingly, we passed dredging activity by the bridge near downtown. Apparently they are working to make the river navigable and adding malecon walk ways from the village of Mulege to the lighthouse to create more tourism and jobs. Lots of potential but a big project… Marina samples drinks at our favorite Mulege Mexican restaurant. Potent Back to the anchorage and to El Patron (left) for dinner. Place is hopin on Thursday night?? No deserts so we walk to Pancho Villa’s next door and find pineapple pie, yum… Also meet local American that lives next door with cool new construction including a life-guard chair to keep an eye on river activities. They’ve sold a business in Ensenada and moved here. Anchoring in Mulege was never better, Pancho Villa’s is now open for breakfast and has wireless internet just installed today. Back at the boat it’s Hearts of course!!
