Cruising North to Kino
North bound, May the, (Wed)
Yesterday, our 15 mile leg from Loreto to I. Carmen’s north anchorage Vee Cove was a motor sail with wind just off our nose to get a little wind assist. Lots of boats heading north (destination San Carlos) so we’re hoping to see Vee Cove empty as we peek our nose around the white headlands that jets out forming the NW point. Good News, It’s ours!!
We anchored Gato Loco in 6′ of water close to the sandy beach to make room for SeaEsta and Ralph & Helen on Moon Drifter. Moon Drifter is in the southern anchorage about 4 miles south but needs to sail 13 miles to round Car men’s NE point to join us in Vee Cove. Ralph and Helen are serious about buying a new 1160 Seawind and want to talk business with Kurt.
Winds still out of the NE as we settle in to the anchorage and again I’m hoping that things settle down since we invited both boats to join us in this north exposed anchorage..
We’re back to Vee Cove because it’s like a aquarium water park and every body’s in the water except Marina who doesn’t swim!! (Right) Bill indicating what size fish he hopes to catch. Guess what we had spaghetti for dinner. He did hook one that took his lure, the big one that got away! Good evening with the Suns kicking the Spurs but in game 2 of the playoffs.
This morning we were awaken with pelicans dive-bombing all around the boat. A huge fish ball was around the boat and the pelicans were feasting. The pelican diver left is about to hit the water. We were getting splashes on the boat! Weather last night was colder than usual with everybody on blankets.
(8:00) We’re off for Bahia San Sebastian 43 miles NNW. Winds light out of the NE. Rick and Marina take advantage of the beautiful weather on the bow.
Moon Drifter and SeaEsta as we head out.
We decide to have a hid-day swimming break at the pinnacles on the SE entrance of Bahia San Juanico. Wind building as we set a short anchor for lunch. Pulling anchor we’re able to immediately fly the spinnaker, gonna be a good afternoon.
Heading out of San Juanico we radioed to our friends from Lake Pleasant Club starting their crossing to San Carlos from San Juanico. They’re off at 1 PM and hope to sail directly to San Carlos in 24 hours. BIG NEWS… Also got a radio call from Ralph and Helen in Vee Cove and they bought a new 1160 from Kurt this morning. What a great place to buy a boat!! Kurt was hoping to sell us one but a sale is a sale.
We were able to fly the spinnaker all afternoon arriving in Bahia San Sebastian at 5 PM. Internet in the anchorage tonight so it time to do some work… Fishing report, Big one caught in our dreams..
