Gato Loco Leg 5 Blog #2
San Juanico is a gorgeous, little cove with 3 or 4 huge homes on the cliff overlooking the cove. We had one other boat with us, the Windfall, who was also in Isla Coronado with us. There were some dramatic rock formations in the cove with about 4 large ospry nests at the very top. I’m not sure, but it looked like mama ospry was protecting her nests. We went to shore and hiked up the cliffs, which were packed full of fossils everywhere you looked. It’s amazing to think how old those fossils must have been! There were literally millions of shells packed into the hillside. We got to the top of the cliffs and had an amazing view of the waves crashing on the rocks below, and all the surrounding mountains.
Just like those before us, we had to make an offering for our Gato Loco Leg 5 on the Cruiser’s Shrine. We found a lovely shell and left our mark on the tree, just below the other Gato Loco crews of the past. Bill, ever the gentleman, took the photo of us at the tree. The water was a gorgeous turquoise and quite warm. Bill and Sally did some snorkeling while Marilyn and I swam at the boat. We jumped off of the bow a few times and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Again, Sally saw some Angelfish and Sergeant Major Parrot fish snorkeling right off the back of the boat. The amazing things you can see right off the back of the boat…such a rough life we have…
