Leg 1 day 4
Ahoy! Leg 1, Tuesday, April 14 The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed, if not for courage of the fearless crew, the Gato Loco would be lost!!!
Heading out of Puerto Refugio everthing looked good until we got out into the middle of Canal de Bellenas, a five mile wide channel that runs between Baja and Isla Angle De Guardia. This channel is known for dangerous conditions that can occur with little or no warning. Had a good heading but winds got squirely and then shifted out of the west and all hell broke loose. Winds built to max. gust of 42mph and against the current, made for very large irregular waves. The well honed crew worked rapidly to get sails down and secure. We battled the wind and seas for five hours before the wet, spent, crew arrived in Bahia De Los Angeles. Frankie your shells took flight, crashed and ended up overboard. Sorry! Lost one deck chair chair and the trash can too. Gato Loco got us through again with no problems. After some cleanup the crew took a dingy ride to Guillermo’s, the local beach cantina for a well deserved know what. It was incredible the kind of seas this crazy cat went through and how she came out the other side of the storm with everyone safe and sound. Good job Seawind!! We all had a mighty restful nights sleep after another quick round of Spades. Clyde took that round. Next stop Isla Salsipuedes and more needed rest.
Until the next Update… The GatoLoco Crew
