The GatoLoco leg 1 crew (Bill, Cynthia, Clyde & Bruce) are hoping to head south on Friday night, sailing through the night and arriving at Isla San Luis Saturday morning 9ish. The current forecast however is for bad weather on Saturday, The system would have less influence further south so if it is late arriving GatoLoco might Cap 41be able to make the crossing and hang in the Willard Bay area. Bill is watching weather very closely and if the forecast holds he will probably delay. Remember our lessen learned about weather days. We will be out for 2 months and a day or 2 lost will not be missed, especially since GatoLoco was originally scheduled to leave on Sunday morning anyway. Sting Reay, the F28, sailed by Craig & John on leg 1, is fast but wet so they will appreciate a smooth ride across, especially at night.
Speaking for Craig, I recently discovered he’s a musician and has some of his new music on MySpace. Click here to lessen. Craig on Sting Reay >>

Today, Tuesday we spent lots of time to finish readying GatoLoco for leg 1 departure. The list is getting pretty short and should be finished tomorrow so Augustine can have Thursday to wash and wax her. Looks like Tecate might be sponsoring the cruise… Just kidding but maybe they should with the number of cans that will pass through crews hands during the cruise..

Cool recent sunset from the Cholla hood. The mountains in the distance (85 miles to the coast) are Baja beckoning. This is what the crew will see as they depart at sunset. The moon will join them after a few hours and light the way almost as bright as the sunset photo above. Frankie and I will be heading back to Phoenix later this week for a few days before returning to Cholla next Friday and then driving to San Carlos next Saturday to join Victor & Leslie and Bill for Leg 2 heading to Loreto.

Here’s a BajaInsider link with details about Loreto Fest… Loreto Fest. Leg 3 and 4 will bridge the biggest cruiser rally of the season.

Communicating with the crew on the water…
This season we’re going to use the comment feature on the blog to share comments to the crew. The crew will get an email with the comment and it will be posted on the blog for all to read. Should be fun share.. If you need to send a private email send to lowellmcculley@prodigy.net.mx They will be checking this email. To enter a comment go to the bottom of the blog..

Until the next Update… Lowell for the GatoLoco Crew
