Launching the 2026 Sailing Season: Southbound on Strikhedonia
It’s that time again—time to kick off the 2026 sailing season. This year begins with a special opportunity: crewing alongside fellow skipper and good friend Chris French aboard his Seawind 1160, Strikhedonia. Over the next three weeks, we’ll be sailing the stunning Pacific coast of Mexico, from Mazatlán down to Barra de Navidad.
Chris is no stranger to these waters—or to our crew. After selling Strikhedonia a few years back, he joined us aboard Gato Loco for several memorable legs. Now, having recently reacquired his beloved catamaran, he’s charted an ambitious season that spans from San Diego to Loreto, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Barra de Navidad, and eventually back into the Sea of Cortez.
Paul Nowak and I are thrilled to be part of this southbound leg. It’s our first time cruising since the unforgettable anchorage blowout in Gonzaga, and we’re eager to get back on the water. The chance to sail with Chris as he revisits the marinas and anchorages he loves is a perfect way to dive back into the rhythm of life at sea.
We’ll rendezvous with Chris this Monday (January 26) at Sky Harbor, catching a flight to Mazatlán to help prep Strikhedonia for the journey south.
