Northern Sea of Cortez Anchorage Crawl (Day 1)
What perfect day for a crossing. South winds 14 – 18kts for most of the day. The 14 hour crossing reduced to 12 with boat speeds up to 9 kts and 5 hours sail only. Seas were comfortable at 2 feet making for a happy crew. Hour 3 and Ed reeled in a 24” Yellow tail making the crew even happier.
Paul and Steph, our buddy boat on Tiller Time, got a later start and finally passed us about 25 miles from Puertecitos on their fast F28 Corsair. No sea life for the crossing. It’s always a treat to have a huge pod of dolphin to chase us down.
Arriving in Puertecitos at 5 PM paid off as it was the peak of high tide and the next low tide is 10 feet lower so we knew how much water we need under us in this shallow sand bottom bay.
The prep of the trip and the crossing has the crew pretty beat. Paul and Steph joined us for dinner to enjoy Ed yellow tail and share stories of the crossing.
