Northern Sea cruise Departed today with favorable winds
April 30th (day 1)
Alarms went off at 4:45 Wednesday morning, a day earlier than planned to take advantage for south winds that should hold for most of the day. Pressing crews to head a day early was a challenge but hopefully it will pay off with a full day of sailing and arriving in Puertecitos well before sunset. YU7

Update: 7 AM great winds. 17kt broad reach winds with screecher. Smoking at 8.5kts. Puertecitos ETA 4 PM. Life is good.
Here’s the plan
Leg1 (~12 days)
Penasco to Puertecitos (80nm sail to a Baja’s small village with hot springs)
Puertecitos to Isla Pulmo (24nm sail to a little pumice stone island, Pulmo)
Pulmo to Alfonsina’s in Bahia Gonzaga (beautiful beach and beach bar)
Alfonsina’s to 2 Headed Cove (Baja’s nature to the fullest south Gonzaga)
2 Headed Cove to Puerto Refugio (Beautiful and one of best anchorages on the Sea)
Puerto Refugio to Bay of LA
Back to Refugio
Refugio to Puerto Lobos (Sail back to Sonora’s fishing community)
We will do a crew change while Gato Loco is anchored in Puerto Lobos.
Leg 1 May 1st – 12th
Crew – Ed & Marcia , Murril & Allison and Lowell
Buddy Boat
Paul and Stephanie, on their corsair trimaran Tiller Time, will buddy boat with us. They need to head back to Penasco on the 6th probably from Puerto Refugio.
We should sail in to Puerto Lobos on the 12th for a crew change on the 13th with the leg 2 crew driving to Puerto Lobos to join Gato Loco and the leg 1 crew driving their car back to Penasco. Gato Loco will probably need boat water after being out for 12 days.
Leg 2 May 13th -21st
Crew – Scott & Jamie , Roger & Alisa and Lowell
Leg2 will be the reverse back to Baja and end back in Penasco.
