Gato Loco anchors at Yurts ville south of Bay of LA
Sunday April 28th
We’re glad to have the Whale Channel passage behind us. No drama this time only currents pushing against us slowing progress. Even with the tide not helping we made it in and anchor down at 2. The plan is grab 15 gallons of fuel to give us margin to get to Santa Rosalia due to the light wind forecast that could have some wind on our nose. We want no stress for the passage to Santa Rosalia.
With less than an hour layover for fuel, we head for a nice anchorage with a long beach for Marcia to shell collect. Destination Ensenada el Alacron (scorpions) 2 hours south so we can arrive in time to explore the beach and the Yurt resort that sets on the north end of the mile long white sand beach. Anchor down at 5:30 and Marcia began her search for shells, Chris heads out for a hike and Ed and I visit with the caretaker of the resort. We only wish we spoke more Spanish as the caretaker needs supplies or a ride to the Bay of LA as they were running short on supplies. Unfortunately we’re headed south and can’t help.
Marcia’s beach walk was very successful and she’s a happy girl. Weather is perfect at sunset with us facing the Yurt resort with the sunset behind it. Ed is doing dinner tonight and we’re having the Dorado he caught day one.
Monday April 29th
Cool quiet night sleeping under blankets. Our plan is to make Santa Rosalia tomorrow and to make the passages shorter we’re going to power past San Francisquito our normal anchorage and stop 15 mile south at Cabo San Miguel where we’ve anchored a couple time before. This reduces tomorrow passage to around 9 hours and gets us in the SR in time to explore and have a nice dinner ashore.
