Whale Channel was good to us
Tuesday May 26th
Crew up early in Refugio for the 46 mile run into Bay of LA. No morning coffee with our propane problem. Another quite cool night. We’re sleeping under blankets. Looking south down Whale towards Bay of LA winds look light. We pass a 2 masked schooner as we carefully pass the exposed reef on the south exit from Refugio. With our history on Whale channel vigilance on winds is the key word. Soon we find winds coming up the channel from the SE giving us a nice motor sail to the west side of the channel. Approaching the west wind slot there’s no whitecaps so It’s our lucky day. Winds faded and finally returned to push into the Bay 1ish. First order of business lunch and Margs. As usual the Guillermo’s staff was very helpful driving me to find a new propane hose and refill the tank we lost propane from. Weather here feels hot compared to Refugio so we finished provisions (gas, groceries) and hauled anchor for a cooler anchorage Don Juan. There’s one other boat and 2nd soon joined us. With propane now, dinner is the Yellowtail (finally). Beautiful anchorage and a night of star gazing on the bow lessening to Murril’s soul music. Moving south to San Francisquito tomorrow. No picks as we’re sending this from our sat internet
Until the next update
