Gato Loco–Leg 5, “Fish On” 3rd Update
Sunday June 2nd we’re off to Santa Rosalia
Departing Coyote Bay
I have to thank Ed and Cindy for bring a cool little cactus on board to make us feel more at home. Dave napping looks like a sleeping troubadour.
A good morning breeze has us up and on our way early. We have about 40 miles to Santa Rosalia. Ed will be happy we’re heading to more fertile fishing grounds. Conception has only yielded sharks on Gato Loco. Rounding Punta Chivato mid-day the reefs are always a good fishing spot and Ed is on alert but no joy today. We’re on to Craig’s channel south of Isla San Marcos where we find a perfect broad reach breeze. Motors off and we’re sailing at 7kts.
We motor through the Santa Rosalia harbor 4ish and find lots of room in the Singlar marina. Our visit south there were only side tie spots open. A quick stop to the fuel dock and into a slip. It’s time for provisions and some sightseeing for Ed and Marcia.
First stop is to the near by liquor store for ice and Marcia’s Corona lights. Unfortunately it’s a Tecate store so no luck on the beer. On to see one of our favorite Baja stops. Lots of memories in Santa Rosalia.

Some of Marcia’s photos
After finishing provisioning supplies we off to Tanka Grill for dinner. The owners are always happy to see the Gato Loco crew.
Back to the boat before sunset and yes we found Corona lights on our walk back to the boat. Marcia does her Frankie/Allison pose for me in the late night lighting. We all miss Frankie!! 🙂
Tomorrow is a big push day with 80 miles north to San Francisquito. We depart at 5 AM so it’s going to be an early night. Thank you Santa Rosalia for another nice but short visit.
Monday June 3rd
Alarm at 5 and we’re out of the harbor in total darkness. Morning west winds are blowing as usual and shortly we are north bound.
San Francisquito here we come.
Dave watching the sunrise with a jacket on. It’s cool.
All good on Gato Loco
Until the Next Update.
She has the pose down! Looks fantastic.
