Leg 7 Launched Saturday Afternoon
Bill, Frankie, Neely and I headed north from La Ventana Friday morning for Loreto, a 400Km drive. It’s been a nice 2 day stay on the beach. Wind has blown like Driving north, the hi-lite was our lunch stop in the rural town of Constitution mid-way on the drive for carne asada tacos and pork ribs for Bill at a great BBQ restaurant (Asadero Tribi) Bill discovered on his surfing trip. We also rediscovered Jimaca a flower brewed like tea making a drink somewhat like black current. We ended up stopping a the local store and buying 2 kilos from bulk barrels.
We pulled into Loreto 3ish and found the crew checked in at La Damiana and ready to see Loreto. What better way to celebrate the start of Leg 7 than Margaritas. Great stories of their journey to Loreto and the 50 minute flight from Guaymas to Loreto with a pilot
Saturday the focus was provisioning for the crew of 7 heading to San Carlos. 7 is the largest crew we’ve ever launched and I’m writing this on Sunday morning June 1. Pee Wee is heading north today to Conception Bay to overnight on some beach. We made reservation yesterday to ride the ferry from Santa Rosalia to Guaymas/San Carlos on Wednesday. It leaves at 9AM and should be a 7 hour crossing. We will probably spend the night in San Carlos and drive to Penasco on Thursday.
