Rally Days 2017 Let it Begin
Sunday May 21th – Rally days began with another perfect dinner at the Tripui resort. They really know how to take care of a crowd. This year we are 20 strong and everybody enjoyed each boats history that was enhanced by Elvin and Connie’s knowledge of the last 20 years in the area. Great group this year and we miss Carol on Stray Cat.
Monday May 22nd – The day begins with provisioning at the new marina market. Kurt picks up the hotdogs for the beach party we load Gato Loco for our week long rally cruise. While we’re provisioning Guy is having Stray Cat hauled and put away for the summer. We’re off to Juncalito a small bay north of Escondido for our 2nd annual Palapa party hosted by Elvin and Connie. You can see the view of the Rally fleet from their palapa below.
Our plan to have lunch at the Clam shack was aborted when we found them closed on Mondays. That lead to a race attempt but winds went flat. After some swimming to kill time a light wind came up and allowed us to have a peaceful sail into Juncalito just in time for the happy hour.
Thanks to our gracious host for a beautiful evening. Arriving back to the boat we found a stow away looking for “you guest it” Tequila. Nice evening on the boat with a few cocktails. Also got to spend time with Brian and Anna on Stray Catz who are heading to Penasco late June to haul out for the summer.
Day one of Rally days in the books.
Until the next Update
We’ll be away from internet for a few days. Probably hear from us on Thursday.
