Leg 6 – Animas Slot and more
Heading north to the Bay of LA area. Terrapin a family of 4 is here in San Francisquito with us and we make plans to anchor in a small anchorage “Animas Slot”. Heading out of our sheltered anchorage we find 4’ swells coming from the north and a 10kt NE wind. Winds must have been blowing through the night to grow these.
Late morning things settle down and we get a visit of 100s of dolphis that wanted to run with us and play. If only I could show you the video, pretty incredible.
The new crew has settled into the pace on board and has found their niche to help. Nobody is starving and the Gato Loco copper cups are the hit of the cruise always getting used.
Arriving at the Animas Slot anchorage, it’s pretty small for 2 boats but we anchor inside close to shore. There is room but it’s tight. Being a bit nervous and a few bee arrivals we decide to raise the anchor and head on towards Bay of LA to the Donn Juan anchorage.
Wow there’s no boats in the Donn Juan anchorage (left photo). I can only remember once having it all to ourselves.
Weather is even cooler here and not inviting to swim. Going to be a blanket night tonight.
As the sunsets coyotes are working the beach.
Off to Bay of LA and north tomorrow.
All good on Gato Loco
Sending this from Alfonsinas. Crossing to Penasco tomorrow (Sat)
