Baja Boys Sail to New York City
Beautiful New England weather... A 4 1/5 hour direct flight brought us to Providence RI where Kurt picked us up and took us down to Newport. Richard and Kerry, our hosts for the cruise met us at the dock where the boat show was. I say "was" since most boats are gone and the 1160 sets out on her empty private dock. Shortly we headed out to great seafood restaurant for New England specialties including lobster pizza!!
Today (Tuesday) we're up early to move the boat as a big crane barge arrives to remove docks that were set temporarily for the boat show. There seems to be marinas everywhere and we moved just a short distance to West Wind marina and begin maintaince on a few things that Kurt hadn't had time to manage before the boat show. Weather is warm (mid 70s & 90% humidity) with a nice breeze as we took some interested sailors out for a test sail in the early afternoon

During our test sail we sailed by the house that president Kennedy
used for the summer White House and had his wedding reception at. Lots
of large beautiful estates on all shores. It's hard to believe this area
was founded in the early 1700s.
After returning from our afternoon sailing we still had some final problems to solve before heading out tomorrow. One big issue was the gas BBQ was leaking gas and we need it for dinners. Bill and I pulled it off the boat and took to Tom a local blacksmith. He works out of a 200 year old shop that still had parts for horse carriages in stock (that's history). I took a ride to the top of the mast for last repairs of the day before guests arrive for dinner.

Rain started during dinner and continues as I write this. We're hoping it clears before we leave tomorrow.
