Sunday, April 28th<\/p>\n

It was over 100 in Phoenix today and Mulege is 92 when we arrive which feels pretty warm. We\u2019ve motored and sailed out of \"DSCF0110\"<\/a>Conception Bay arriving in the Mulege channel 2ish. Everybody on board is a little sluggish after our rough Saturday night. Our Mulege Sunday afternoon visit will be slow and easy with our condition and the heat. Hopefully we won\u2019t have anything to "Blame on Mulege\u201d like we have in the past.  By the way, entering the lighthouse channel the shoal is much deeper only coming up to 7\u2019. The last hurricane must have cleared it out.<\/p>\n

Hotel Serenidad is our starting point for refreshments and getting a taxi into Mulege a mile up the river. Right, Lynnie & Jeffrey hang out in the Serenidad lobby.<\/p>\n

We made our usually stop at the historic mission, unfortunately closed today. \u201cClosed\u201d seems to be word of this leg. Photos below are taken from the vista above the mission overlooking the Mulege valley. Being Sunday afternoon, we find the village extra sleepy with almost all tiendas boarded up. The good news the super Mercado  and the good 2nd story Mexican restaurant are open. Note to self, Sundays are not the day to visit Mulege.<\/p>\n

Fresh YellowTail for our early afternoon dinner was just what we needed. Our waiter Jose made us a very special Margarita, our only one for the day.<\/p>\n

The heavy wind sailing we\u2019ve done over the past few days has taken it\u2019s toll on the jib. Craig and I take turns sewing the leach and cover back together. All\u2019s like new when we finish.<\/p>\n

Monday, April 29th<\/p>\n

Before departing we need ice for the next 3 days at anchorage so it time for breakfast at Hotel Serenidad.<\/p>\n

We head out 9ish with a lower tide and still have 5\u2019 under us as we go over the shoal. Lots of pangas where heading out of the channel at sunrise and we find one bottom fishing with hand lines as the head east around Punta Conception. Jeffrey fishes the fishermen and catches a cabrilla for dinner tonight.<\/p>\n

San Sebastian<\/p>\n

Monday night anchorage is the tiny San Sebastian cove that holds 2 boats at most. We\u2019re the only boat tonight in the fishbowl. I say fishbowl because there are home that wrap around the entire cove and we set in the middle as their night time entertainment. It\u2019s a very friendly anchorage and it\u2019s always fun to go ashore and catch up on the local news.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Craig cooking chorizo and pasta and we had the morning catch making another of great dinner. <\/p>\n

San Sebastian has good swimming and snorkeling around the reefs that extend out and protect this anchorage. A cool breeze is always welcome from the canyon off shore after the sunsets and things cool down.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, April 30th<\/p>\n

All five local (Americans) boats head out to fish shortly after sunrise. Going to shore we talk to Pete (above) who says they\u2019re catching lots of YellowTail and Cabrillo. Most of the residents will be heading north in the coming weeks after being here since November.<\/p>\n

Some final visits and the classic photo in front Craig\u2019s house (not Craig on board) and it\u2019s time to head south.<\/p>\n

The morning weather informs us there will be a one day wind event on Thursday with 30+kt winds from a cold front flying through the southwest. That is the day we planned on anchoring off Loreto for supplies before heading to Puerto Escondido. The plans to meet our friends on MoonDrifter Wednesday at Isla Coronados will need to be moved up one day so we can get supplies on Wednesday before the wind. That being said we change our todays destination from San Juanico to Isla Coronados hoping to meet up with MoonDrifter.<\/p>\n
