Departed Puerto Lobos 7ish after a pretty comfortable night with light winds out of the east off the Sonoran coast. The Lobos fishing fleet is heading out so the weather will probably good today.<\/p>\n
It’s easy to summarize our 60 mile crossing to Puerto Refugio… NO WIND and FLAT SEAS. One of the most uneventful crossings I can remember.<\/p>\n
These conditions are perfect for working off repair list. First order of business is to see if we can get the BBQ going as it would be great to cook lunch on it. Lots of lubricant and persuasion and the valve is free. Now on to the 2nd problem with the BBQ. The housing around the valve has rusted free from the BBQ body. A few holes drilled and pop rivets and all is ready for lunch. Leg 1 will be know as the shake down leg if this continues.<\/p>\n

Fishing report. 3 bonitas and a mackerel, all released hoping for a better catch to eat. Craig and Neely take their turn reeling in the catch. Nice of Craig to do his duty since he doesn’t eat fish.<\/p>\n
Clear skies and still pretty cool.<\/p>\n
Light wind finally arrived late afternoon, but on our nose, so we motored the entire distance.<\/p>\n

4 PM: 5 mile out of Refugio and a fast moving pod of dolphins pass by. No interest in our boat.<\/p>\n

Welcome to bo bo land….<\/u><\/p>\n
Puerto Refugio is a beautiful place but can be full of bugs at times. Guess what.. I’m writing this blog with a fly swater in my hand because the small gnats called “bo bos” here are thick. Our first anchor set in the northern most cove was aborted quickly due a boat infestation. Moving to the south side of the channel away from bird roosting areas helped a bit. As sunset approached they slowly departed the boat allowing us to have a peaceful dinner..<\/p>\n

Craig and John love to cook making perfect crew mates. Tonight is marinated carne asada and fried potatos with avocado surprises.. It was so good.<\/p>\n

Hoping for more wind but not like Gato Loco’s 40kt winds on their Leg 1’s last passage though the Ballenas Channel last year. <\/p>\n

We need parts to send with Bob and Chris.. The kitchen sink faucet is leaking badly and needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Here’s a picture with the insignia which I hope would ID it. I have not tried to take it apart fearing I could make the problem worse. I can try to rebuild it with a gasket kit or replace it. If you want to replace the entire unit, it has 12 inches of re-enforce hoses coming from the faucet with 1\/2″ female fittings on the end. If the replacement has the typical 6″ of copper with male fittings we would need another 10″ female \/ female hose to extent to the boat fittings. It looks like a standard unit would fit.<\/p>\n
