Saturday May 7th<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting this Update with humpback photo that Trever sent us taken on our way to Monserrate. They saw us make maneuvers to follow the whale and joined us getting this shot.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nice peaceful cool night after the beach party. Today we\u2019re racing to Bahia Salinas. Gato Loco got an early lead with a favorable wind shift. It\u2019s 18 miles to Salinas so there\u2019s lots of time. Good winds and Gato is flying both head sails and holding the lead of 2 miles with 16kts wind and sailing in the mid 6ks when a small panga sports fishing boat pulls along side with 4 ladies and a guide with fishing team shirts. \"IMG_1200\"<\/a>They\u2019re in the fishing tournament and don\u2019t have enough gas to get home to Loreto. Without slowing down I pour 2.5 gallons of gas in our oldest can and pass it to them . They\u2019re off to Loreto and we\u2019re still in the lead about half way to Salinas. 5 miles from the finish winds lighten and we decide to deploy the spinnaker\u00a0 to hopefully hold the lead that was vanishing fast. Well the spinnaker hasn\u2019t been flown in years and all the quick connects are seized. 20 minutes later after wd20 and lots to struggle we have the spinnaker flying but no longer have the lead. Wind finally died before the finish line and we dropped sails and headed for the anchorage. Sail Away with ex-crew Chris on board won.<\/p>\n

Another pot luck evening on the 50\u2019 cat. There\u2019s probably 30 of us on board enjoying a nice sunset in front of the 1\/2 mile white sand beach. The abandon salt mine continues to look in further disrepair. The waves rocked us gently all night.<\/p>\n

Sunday May 8th\u00a0 Mother\u2019s day<\/p>\n

We reflect on our mothers on this special day. Eric\u2019s mom is 84, Ed and my mother have past but memories flood as I think of them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We\u2019re off to Isla Coronados today our last anchorage of the Rally. Leaving the anchorage we stop by the near by wreck setting 25\u2019 of water. It\u2019s packed with reef fish hiding inside the old boat structure. Eric got a great shot of Ed diving for a closer look.<\/p>\n

Eric and I took a long hike on the national park trails. Checked out the south anchorage that provides great protection for north winds. We also headed towards the top of the volcanic peak but I\u2019m in flip flaps and stop when we get to large cinder rocks. Eric made it a bit further to get shots of the anchorage bay.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_1223\"<\/a>\"IMG_1226\"<\/a>Sunset happy hour crews meet on the beach to share stories of the days good sailing from Salinas and to say goodbye for now. There will probably a 13th annual Rally next year and we hope to see crews again. Thank you WestCoast Multihulls for making this happen. Great time as always.<\/p>\n
