<\/a>Thursday April 28th<\/p>\nSunset my ass!! We use an average boat speed of 6kts when we figure an arrival time which puts us arriving 6:30ish for the 76NM passage. We cross into Baja Sur just before Santa Rosalia putting us on mountain time making it 7:30 basically a sunset arrival. Chris and I are up heading south at 5:30 to make sunset. Notice a pattern here. We\u2019re near a new moon creating currents near maximum that can help or slow progress and the early departure puts us on the favorable current side for a few hours. No sails and motors 3\/4 throttle we\u2019re pushing 7.5 kts. 10 AM we see white caps at a distance to the west. Time to raise sails readying for a ride. Soon we\u2019re pushing 9kts and winds are gusting in the high 20s. Damit we should have reefed as we set sails. With a little struggle, we\u2019ve put the 1st reef on the main and the jib partially furled and now riding comfortably in the 8kt range. Santa Rosalia here we come. The last 3 hours we\u2019re back motor sailing but the earlier push puts us in at 5:30 well before sunset.<\/p>\n

Arriving, we hit the fuel dock, settled into a slip and headed to Tanka\u2019s Grill for dinner. We have a long standing friendship with the owners Arturo and Edwardo and always have a great meal and hospitality. Tonight\u2019s no different.<\/p>\n Arturo and Edwardo aren\u2019t here tonight when we arrive but the bartender Daniel makes a call and they soon show up. They\u2019re very busy and have run out of ribs the boys want but there\u2019s lots of other choices.<\/p>\n I\u2019ll let the pictures speak to how the evening went.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Friday morning is a slow start. We checked in with the marina did some provisioning and had breakfast before departing to Bahia Conception. All slow but good on Gato Loco.<\/p>\n Until the next update<\/p>\n
