We woke early to the sound of Bill weighing anchor and the murmur of the motes. The wind is light and the sea glassy. We motor to the center of Bay of Concepcion and head towards Mulege. As we glide through the blue, we spot 2 tips slicing through the water in front of us. Then it happens again and we realize it is a very large Manta Ray of about 8ft. What a great start to the day! We reach Mulege in 2 1\/2 hours and anchor just off the entrance. There is a lot of panga traffic, so we need to be tucked out of harms way. We lower the dinghy and make 2 trips to take everyone ashore. While waiting for the 2nd trip, we were approached by a fisherman with a small Toyota pick up offering us a ride to town for propinas only. We jumped at the opportunity and piled in. He had already placed folding chairs and cushions in back along with his ice chest with no ice and filled with Manta and Calamari. Very stinky!! The girls were in front and boys in back. \"IMG<\/p>\n

Bill offered our driver an extra $10 to haul us to the mission, and he agreed. The mission was built in the 1700’s and has a great view of the city. There are many palm trees and mangroves just beneath the mission.<\/p>\n

Mulege has a very shallow river that runs through it, giving life to all of the beautiful trees.<\/p>\n

Our first stop after being dropped at the plaza was a cantina with a back patio that had great shade trees and an easy feel. We met some locals from Punta Chivato and caught up on the real estate market in the area. We left the cantina and started browsing the stores while slowly making our way to the prison. The prison also sits on a hill and was operational until the early 60’s. After our visit we followed Bill to a little store so he could exchange some shorts from his last trip through. The rest of the afternoon was spent strolling down the narrow streets, looking in shops and grading the quality of the margaritas in the cantinas. Let me tell you,..This place has rocket fuel grade margaritas!! They must be time release because they released us to some other time and some other demented dimension!! Whoof!! This was not a good idea, especially when we depart for San Carlos at 3 :00A.M.!! The other bad idea is thinking you can all the crew in the dinky dinghy for the return trip to Gato Loco. Bill kept yelling at us to bail, but there was no room to reach the bottom of the boat with all of our wet legs there. Besides, You couldn’t hear him through all the laughter!!…We made it home, fell in bed and snored soundly…<\/p>\n
