Fun gather of the fleet on Isla Coronados\u2019s beautiful palapa beach area<\/p>\n

Tuesday May 22nd<\/p>\n

The fleet thought Bahia Salinas on Isla Carmen was a beautiful anchorage but seeing the north anchorage of Isla Coronados with it\u2019s white sand beach and turquoise water they fully understood why the fleet moved to this spot. We\u2019re still 14 boats strong arriving here. The anchorage handles the fleet with no problem finding 4 other boats already anchored. The sail from Salinas was light until clearing the north end of Isla Carmen when motors went off and most people were able to sail. Gato Loco was the last to leave Salinas after visiting the salt flats and benefited from the late afternoon winds.<\/p>\n

This anchorage is especially good place for beach parties with a nice palapa area with tables and benches. Of coarse the fleet migrates in for a sunset and a group potluck. Thanks to Kurt we have two photo\/video journalist, Eddy and Guinevere documenting this year\u2019s rally. Eddie is a drone master and is loving this beautiful anchorage. We\u2019re blessed to have them and look forward to see the event through their eyes.<\/p>\n

The opening photo pretty much summed up the evening. Everybody loving the company, the anchorage and the perfect weather. Great stories of the sail to the island as sailors get more acquainted.<\/p>\n

This anchorage only has one challenge. Bees on the island are always in search of fresh water and if you have any water (out door shower ) on your boat they come by the hundreds. Netting on Gato Loco solves the problem.<\/p>\n

Wednesday May 23rd<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Beautiful peaceful night with a breeze in the anchorage. We\u2019re heading to San Juanico 20 miles north on the Baja coast. Winds are forecasted out of the SE and probably won\u2019t come up until mid-day giving us the morning to enjoy the anchorage. The plan is to leave all together a noon so Eddie can get some drone shots of the fleet sailing together.<\/p>\n

The Gato Loco Crew is doing well and a huge help as Gato Loco is leading the entire Rally event with Ralph as our chief consultant. We\u2019ve managed to get to know names of 45 sailors many of them we\u2019ve meet for the first time. As you saw in the photos Frankie and AL are on the water paddle boarding or swimming every chance they get. The water is barley warm enough for Frankie but she braves her way in. We\u2019re looking forward to showing everybody around in San Juanico.<\/p>\n
