Manuel, you’re our guy..<\/p>\n

Frankie holds one of 6 lobsters and a fish from Manuel.<\/p>\n

After a quiet night at anchor we awoke to cloudy skies allowing us to sleep a little later. Water is very clear and inviting for swimming. Bob spent 20 minutes on the foredeck orchestrating a puffer fish ballet. With no less than 25 puffers he moved his lure up, down and across the bottom while they followed like puppies. He thought it would have made a hugely successful U-tube movie.<\/p>\n

Manuel said he would bring our lobster order by 9, it’s 9:30 and no Manuel. We were almost sure he would be back mainly because he was sweet on Kerry and she gave him a big smile and wave as he motored away last night. 10 and it’s time to go for a hike before we sail south and guess what, here comes Manuel.. Score! He has 6 lobsters and a nice fish for us. $30 to Manuel and a few more smiles from Kerry and he’s away to his next customer and we’re off to our hike. Bill should plan on stopping and seeing Manuel on his way north.<\/p>\n

The red cliffs to the north of the anchorage has a cross, there must be a trail.<\/p>\n

Beautiful trail right to the cross. The last 100 meters is on a razor ridge making everybody a little uneasy but the view is worth it.<\/p>\n

Our pace is getting pretty relaxed, we’re off to San Evaristo by noon after the hike. Clouds and light sprinkles as we head south motor sailing with heavy marine layer between us and the islands offshore. A few periods of wind as weather clouds pass by. Today’s leg is our longest leg over 20 miles passing down canal de San Jose. Shore on the Baja coast is steep as we pass Punta Nopolo when wind finally fills for us to sail in silence without the motors. Arriving in San Evaristo and we find 3 big \"IMGfishing boats, 4 sailboats and still there is plenty of room for us. Neely was very happy for the anchor to go down and see the dinghy launch for shore.
\n\"IMG The sun has finally broke through and everybody is in the water readying for our big LOBSTER dinner. What a feast!!<\/p>\n

San Evaristo was windy last time we were here and this night is no different. Around midnight, north wind’s start spilling over from the salt ponds to the north waking us up along with most of the anchorage. A few things in order, we set the drag alarm and went back to our bunks to try and get a little sleep.<\/p>\n

Wednesday morning.
\nDay break and winds are still blowing. The large Coronado sailboat has moved and later we found out they were dragging anchor. We launched a morning shore party for exercise and possibly catch the local tienda open for fresh tortillas (no luck there)\"IMG and then on to check out the salt ponds. Signs indicate that the ponds are worked and provide La Paz with salt. I made a mis-step while taking a photo and sunk one foot deep into black muck \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

\n11ish we’re off to Isla Partida north of La Paz, our last night out at Sea…

Wednesday evening… Big Problem, anchored at isla Partida \"IMG near sunset, the boat computer died abruptly without warning. As you might image I’m a little out of sorts and spend the night working on getting Gato Loco Updates back on the air. Leg 5 crew Lindsay and Eve are flying to La Paz on Friday, Perfect, they can bring us a replacement. Now in cell range I gave our fellow crew member Tom Haney in Phoenix a call and told him our desperate story. Later we receive word that he has us covered and a loaner laptop will be on it’s way with Lindsay. I’m writing this Saturday morning and we have our loaner computer loaded up and running. A HUGE thanks to Tom.. We’re back on the air.<\/p>\n

By the way… Lindsay and Eve arrived yesterday in fine shape.\"IMG They are very excited to sail with Bill back to Loreto. We had a huge happy hour on Gato Loco when Bill arrived with Sydney and Chuck in their RV tour of southern Baja. The Gato Loco Crew at the moment is Kerry, Frankie, Neely, Bob, Chris, Lindsay, Eve, Bill, Sydney, Chuck and me (Lowell). Kerry, Bob, Chris, Sydney and Chuck depart today and Frankie, Neely and I will start our southern Baja RV tour while Gato Loco heads north probably Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
