Gato Loco arrived in Bay of LA today.
Cruisin to San Carlos
April 20, Phoenix (Lowell here) Good news.. Today I They’ve been having a great time with good weather but winds have been “on and off” quoting Bill. Last night they anchored at a gringo camp north of Bay of LA and had 30+kt winds after sunset. This is a typical condition in this area, something to do with pressure differences between the pacific side of Baja and the Sea of Cortez that causes winds to spill over the mountains in this area. We’ve experienced that a few times in the past. Sounds like they will be heading south tomorrow and will cross back towards Sonora Monday. Bill thought they would be on the south end of Isla Tiburon on Monday night and expect to be in San Carlos early afternoon Thursday when
I’ve included some area photos from past trips. Top photo is a whale shark in front of Guillermo’s. This area is a whale shark sanctuary and they can usually be spotted this time of year. The tiny Bay of LA chapel is well cared for by the locals and also a photo of the mountains to the west that separates Bay of LA from the pacific. Lowell for the Gato Loco Crew.
