Gato Loco Leg 4–The Altfillisch leg – 3nd Update
Memorial Day at Agua Verde
Light breeze is the forecast for today.forcing us to motor sail for the 20 mile run south. Only 2 boats set in the north anchorage of Agua Verde as we arrive. Water and weather are perfect to put the paddle boards in and play.
Kids at play. Jeffrey is playing battle ship with Lynnie.
Very nice day and evening. Unfortunately Frankie and I are a bit under the weather so I took only a few photos.
Tuesday May 28th
Happy to report that we’re feeling better. The bat rays and the local goats entertain us as we have breakfast.
After enjoying a nice morning, we’re heading north to eventually meet up with my next Leg 5 crew on Wednesday evening. Today we’ll sail back up to Puerto Escondido to provision the boat with gas, water and stop into the marina restaurant for lunch before heading further north for tomorrow’s Loreto rendezvous with Dave, Ed and Marcia.
Nice surprise at the marina… We ran in to our Seawind buddies Guy and Carol and had a farewell luncheon together.
Marina provision and lunch done and we’re off to anchor in front of the Loreto Bay resort just 8 miles south of Loreto.
Salty crew, Galley staff and fashion models, we have then all.
Wednesday May 29th
Rendezvous Day and we start the day with breakfast at the resort. There’s not many guest roaming around. Lynnie thinks they should come back and enjoy the resort sometime.
Mid-day and winds are building from the NE and seas in front of Loreto are getting pretty lumpy. It made for a very nice final sail up to Loreto but it will be a lot of work lugging leg 5 provisions on by dinghy. Problem solved by taking Gato Loco inside the panga breakwater marina for the night making everything a simple step from the dock to the boat.
Loreto Sweetie
Happy crew, Gato Loco on the dock and crazy dock boys posing for their photo.
The gang’s all here!
Jeffrey and Lynnie have a room at the Mission and we all meet for happy hour at the hotel bar then on to dinner. Very nice night having everybody together to enjoy Loreto’s night time ambiance. It’s Ed and Marcia’s first visit and they’re loving the city.
Thursday May 30th
Frankie, Jeffrey and Lynnie fly back to Tijuana today and then drive back to Phoenix. It’s sad to see Frankie leave but we are looking forward to reunited next Thursday in Cholla with Murril and AL joining us on Saturday. It’s Peacemaker music weekend and is always a great time. I think Jeffrey and Lynnie enjoyed the easy daily sailing instead of the passage legs north or south. As usual it was entertaining, I mean great to have them on board.
Now let’s get Gato Loco back to Penasco. It’s going to be another fun week on board.
For Marcia, Ed, Dave and myself – All good on Gato Loco
Until the next update
Thank You Steve and Cindy for all your support. It made this year special.
Kids at play. Battleship. How funny. Who won? Have fun.
I love that leg of the trip 🙂 Safe travels home…
