Gato Loco Satellite Update, Crossing to Santa Rosalia

Friday May 10
We’re 10 miles out of Santa Rosalia expecting to arrive 6ish.
Leg 1 crew made it back to Phoenix yesterday and the new crew settled in with provision done for a short sail to the Soggy Peso last night for dinner. The new scurvy crew are Rick, Chris and Todd.
Winds blew all night which is never good. This morning we’re up at 5:30. Weather looks sketchy but internet weather (Windy) looks promising that if we can make it to the center of the Sea of Cortez things will lighten up and settle. WELL it was another one of those mornings where thoughts of turning back to our safe anchorage resonate in your head as we find a nice 15-18kt reaching breeze but the seas are rolling at 7′ and we have waves crashing over the cabin occasionally. The morning was spent enduring and looking ahead for calmer seas. Windy was right and things lighten up about half way across. We’re now enjoying just rewards with the last 15 miles having flat seas, wind at our back, motors off and tunes cranked. What a day… Santa Rosalia here we come. All good on Gato Loco Until the next update.
The nex photo blog will be out when we arrive Santa Rosalia
