Leg 5–Big winds to Vee Cove
Monday May 16th
Windy MUCH cooler night overnight in Loreto. Today we’re heading to Vee Cove on the north shore of Isla Carmen. Heading out we have 20kts wind at our back forcing us to steer to prevent an accidental jib. Vee Cove is only 15 miles NE so it’s going to be a short but fun sail.
30 Minutes out and Murril’s bleeding. He slipped climbing on the salon deck and cut under his big toe. We had to amputate. Just kidding Al. Arriving in Vee Cove with 4 foot trailing seas but things are pretty calm in the cove and no other boats. Time for lunch and Pork Belly Sliders complements of Lynnie’s smoker work. Thanks Lynnie.
Murril’s not been to Vee Cove so he gets the full tour including the huge sea cave near our anchorage. But first I have to dive 15’ in the crystal turquoise water to fetch his script sunglasses he jumped in with. Mid afternoon Pura Vida arrives and we change our anchor location to make room for them. Winds are still blowing strong as the sun sets finally coming right from the sand dune in the end of the cove the perfect direction. We finish the night laying on the foredeck with a cool breeze, moon overhead lighting the white sandstone cliffs and good music.
Tuesday May 17th
Nice to sleep under a blanket again. Very cool night last night with a breeze all night long. A little swimming and hiking and then we’re heading to San Juanico our next anchorage heading north.
All good on Gato Loco
Until the next Update.
Merril, I’m so sad you had to remove your toe – hope you can still walk straightforward and not in circles.
Jeffery – I’m still alive and walking straight, but a few more tequila’s and I may be crawling!!
