Gato Loco Sailing – Loreto Fest 2005.
April 22nd – May 1st, 2005
Great morning breeze as we headed south from San Juanico. Wind at our backs (15kts) again today and we were able to fly the spinnaker until 1ish as we approached the islands just north of Loreto. Bob was watching the fishing pole closely after yesterday’s hookup but no luck as we passed offshore of Loreto.
Morning spinnaker run.

Today is nephew Scott’s birthday. He’s heading to our Cholla house to celebrate this weekend. I suspect that many of our friends will take him to JJ’s Cantina for his 10 free birthday drinks (hope he gets one!). Sorry we’re missing it Scott… Happy Birthday!
Frankie is about to win this game.
Loreto waterfront as we sail past to Puerto Escondido
Loreto Fest activities warming up.
Looks like fewer boats at Loreto Fest this year and fewer boats on the water everywhere in general. Puerto Escondido has gone through some changes over the past year. The Mexico federal government has targeted the area for improvement. There is a port authority present now and anchoring or using mooring balls now costs 1 Peso/boat foot per day or 33 pesos in our case ($3.10 per day).
Bob and Chris fly home tomorrow. Both can’t believe they’ve been on this cruise for a week. It’s been a great week and a special treat for Frankie. We’re sore from laughing!! We will enjoy Loreto fest today & tomorrow then fly home on Sunday.
