Baja 2006 April 29th - May 19th

April 30th

We've had some email problems so if this is your first email for this cruise read this link to catch up..

We headed east out of Penasco for San Carlos 8:30ish on Saturday with sunny skies and weather beginning to warm after a cool late season cold front blew through the southwest. Made excellent time to Hermosillo airport where we left Bill's truck for their arrival by plane in two weeks. Arranged for a van to drive us the last 120 kilometers south to San Carlos. Wind was blowing cats & dogs (25+) as we arrive and Gato Loco was dancing on the dock as if she was excited to see us. Cleaning, provisioning and dinner before hitting the rack for a early (5:45) departure. On Mexican Time?? Well crossing the Sea always takes an early start to make a safe arrival. "On Mexican Time" begins Sunday night in Santa Rosalia.!!

Winds backed down for the night and all is a go to cross to Santa Rosalia today (Sunday). Heading out of the San Carlos marina we find the toilet sea inlet is blocked by some little creature. Someone needs to go in the water to clear it.!! Bill and I flip for it and I (Lowell) loose. A very refreshing way to start the morning. It actually felt great.

Pelicans cross our bow as we head out of San Carlos.

Pangas and Shrimpers surrounded by seabirds off San Carlos

Flat seas and winds at 8-10kts as we cross to Santa Rosalia. Should arrive at sunset.

Until the next update… The Gato Loco Crew

May 1- Fun in Santa Rosalia

Lowell with his new office briefcase (case of Mexican beer)

Winds still blowing down the channel at sunset

Huge contrast of weather from our March cruise. "On Mexican Time"
