Lead story today is scallop thieves on Tiburon. We had pleasant sail down the west side of Tiburon. Upon rounding the SW corner of the island we spotted scallop divers working the bottom (40’). When they surfaced they motored up to Gato Loco and asked to trade scallops for tortillas. Fine we thought.. We gave them 2 dozen tortillas and they gave us a huge bag of scallops.

Shortly after the scallop crimes winds built from the NW and up went the spinnaker. Sailing SE with beautiful mountains on the islands edge we (Lowell –me) wanted to take more spinnaker photos. Same fire drill with the dinghies but this time winds kicked up even more. Two problems: Bill got a rope burn managing the spinnaker and Lowell had a big problem catching Gato Loco. Reverse on engines final got him and dinghies back on board with some good hi res pictures. Winds topped out at 24kts (NW) before we tacked closer to Tiburon and through Cactus Pass at the SE corner. Cactus pass was a sea life overdose. Small seals jumping wildly, sea birds diving, dolphin everywhere and something huge and white passed under the boat. All this and Dave didn’t get one strike on his line. We retired to Dog Bay to rest. This morning we’re off to Kino. 12kt winds from the channel (N) as we cross it. Until the next update… The Gato Loco Crew
