Finally made it underway on schedule O-dark-30 today (5:30,Sat 26th) after what always seems like an endless list of details to get the boat ready to push from the dock for a 4 month leave. Bill had the boat ship shape when Dave, Frankie & Lowell arrived. After shopping and provisioning we headed for Xiochi’s Café for Sally’s Friday night special in Cholla Bay. Another good meal Sally! Cholla friend Mikie Clark gave us a ride back to the boat around 9:30 pm so we could sleep on board for our early departure this morning.
Bill, Lowell, Sally, Frankie and Dave Weather appears to be good for our first leg. Low pressure has moved through Az and south winds have changed to west which should be favorable (at least yesterday). Typical 9kt winds from the east this morning and slowly shifting to the west 10ish. |
At sunrise about 15 miles south of Puerto Penasco we were surrounded by 1000+ porpoise that played with us for about an hour.
Motoring now waiting for the wind to shift to the west (hoping?). Looks like it will be a stretch to get to Bahia Tepoca. GPS ETA is 7:30 and slipping L Current position N30- 58.08 w113 19.62 Going to keep this update short to try sending it by email. I’ve ran into the same internet problem that Steve had last year and hope GlobalStar (sat phone) has the problem fixed. Until the next update… The Gato Loco Crew |
